When in love with figs

Dive into the world of figs, those love-’em-or-hate-’em wonders! Me? I’m head over heels for these little beauties, and half my year is dedicated to scouring markets for the perfect figs. And guess what? It’s prime fig season right now, and I’m floating on cloud nine!
Let’s talk about this super scrumptious and lightning-fast dinner that lets figs steal the spotlight. It all starts with a hunk of bread, as thick and comforting as a Zopf or as rustic as Danish rye—your choice! Now, picture this: a thin slice of feta, given a quick roast until it’s got that irresistible crispy edge. Drizzle on some sweet honey to balance out the salty feta and awaken the figs’ natural sweetness.
Then come the figs, sliced just right so their juicy goodness can mingle with the feta and bread. To add a bit of crunch, toss in a handful of roasted pine nuts—perfection!
To keep things in check, I’ve got a little sidekick here: a small purslane salad. It’s the yin to this dish’s yang, bringing a burst of freshness to balance out all that richness
