🌾 Breaking bread with gratitude: reflections on World Food Day & World Bread Day
There is something deeply grounding about bread.
A loaf begins with the simplest ingredients: flour, water, salt, and time. Yet it holds centuries of human history, tradition, and care. Bread nourishes us not only through what it gives our bodies, but also through what it represents: patience, community, and the beauty of sharing something made by hand.
Today, on World Food Day and World Bread Day, I find myself thinking about the people behind every grain — the farmers who cultivate wheat with respect for the soil, the millers who preserve the character of local varieties, and the bakers who rise before dawn to fill our mornings with warmth and scent.
Food connects us. It is both memory and promise. Each loaf, each meal, is a quiet reminder of our shared responsibility: to protect the earth that feeds us, to choose ingredients grown with care, and to value the work that goes into every bite.
At Cibo & Vino, bread has always been more than food — it’s a symbol of what I believe in: simplicity. Respect for tradition. Gratitude for what nature offers. And above all, the joy of coming together at the table.
So today, I break bread with gratitude — for the farmers and artisans who honour real food, for the communities who share it, and for the everyday act of nourishment that sustains both body and soul.
Happy World Food Day. Happy World Bread Day.
May we continue to celebrate food that tells a story — from soil to table, from hands to heart.
